A Smile...
It’s universal language of love and acceptance.
But thousands of boys and girls are born each day unable to express these feelings without bringing sorrow to those surrounding them.
These children and families suffer the medical, emotional and physical consequences of having a cleft lip, a cleft palate or both.
Tulip Foundation - Cleft Care
At the beginning of 2001, The Tulip Foundation became involved with the Cleft Lip & Palate Center (CLPC), an independent
foundation within the Surabaya International Hospital. In 2001, we helped 16 children with their surgery and after care treatments, in 2002, the number
increased to 20 children and in 2004 we managed to help 41 children. The CLPC has now extended its project and also operates children in Bandung.
Recently our organisation has started a new project called "CLEFT CARE INDONESIA". Indeed the lack of
understanding and access to proper information on how to take care of infants with cleft lip and palate has become an essential problem in East Java. That is
why this new project aims to inform, assist, and support parents with cleft infants, and therefore bring hope in the lives of these children and their
families.
